Inclusive Arts Social Group (Virtual)
Finding community can be hard, especially for those with challenges related to autism or disability.
District offers a respectful, compassionate virtual setting for children, adolescents, and
young adults to build
community with one another while engaging in the creative arts.
How does it work?
District’s Inclusive Arts Social Group is one-hour long and held once a month on Saturdays, and is dual-facilitated by District Associates. A morning session is held for children aged 8-11, and an afternoon session for adolescents aged 12-15. The session lasts one hour and includes brief introductions, a grounding story relevant to the activity, a guided art project, and a brief closeout with optional showcase. All art supplies for the activity are communicated in advance and can be found
around a typical home or cost less than $10.
How do I know if my loved one is a good fit?
District’s Inclusive Arts Social Group is meant for those who feel different. There is no verbal or video participation required. With that said, those interested in joining a session will be screened by District staff in advance. You may be asked questions about you/your loved one’s experience in group settings, ability to remain within a one-hour virtual meeting, and adherence to basic virtual etiquette. Inclusion in one group session does not automatically mean inclusion in future settings, and participants not able to follow rules may not be able to join again.
How much do sessions cost?
Each group session is $50.00 to join, payable in advance of the session.
Registration is for individual sessions and at this time, bundled packages are not available.
