Independent Living Skills Social Group (Virtual)

As individuals with autism and disability age, they can be thrust into the responsibilities of the adult world without a foundational command as to the importance and function of these tasks.

District offers a respectful, compassionate virtual setting for adolescents and young adults to build
community with one another while engaging in the independent living skills training.

How does it work?

District’s Independent Living Skills Social Group is held once a month on Sundays, and is dual-facilitated by District Associates. Participants are at least 15 years old. The session lasts one hour and includes brief introductions, the introduction of the session’s topic, group exploration, and opportunity for Q&A. Group sessions use a blend of research-backed approaches and do not guarantee mastery by the end of the session.

How do I know if my loved one is a good fit?

District’s Independent Living Skills Social Group is meant for those who feel different. There is no verbal or video participation required. With that said, those interested in joining a session will be screened by District staff in advance. You may be asked questions about you/your loved one’s experience in group settings, ability to remain within a one-hour virtual meeting, and adherence to basic virtual etiquette. Inclusion in one group session does not automatically mean inclusion in future settings, and participants not able to follow rules may not be able to join again.

How much do sessions cost?

Each group session is $50.00 to join, payable in advance of the session.
Registration is for individual sessions and at this time, bundled packages are not available.
